Pastor David Wichert was appointed as
Associate Minister of Plymouth First United Methodist Church on July 1, 2006.
Prior to this appointment he served as pastor to United Methodist congregations
in Fairgrove and Gilford, MI (2002-2006), and Milton and Pershing, IN
(1997-2002.
Pastor Dave received his
undergraduate degrees from Lake Superior State University, a B.S. in Criminal
Justice/Conservation Law and an associate’s in Natural Resources Technology,
graduating in 1980.
He served two years in the U.S. Army
in the 95th Military Police Battalion at Pirmasens, Germany. He then
worked as Village Marshall in Pigeon, MI and a Conservation Officer with the MI
Department of Natural Resources. IN 1997, Dave answered a call to full time
ministry, leaving Memorial UMC in Gladstone, MI to attend seminary at United
Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio receiving his Master of Divinity Degree in
2002.
Dave and his wife Janet will
celebrate 24 years of marriage in May, 2007. Janet is a Registered Dietitian
employed by Sodexho assigned to St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac,
MI. They have three young adult children: Christina is serving in the US-2
Missionary program assigned to Dallas, Texas. Joshua and Joel are both full
time college students in Michigan.
Dave
enjoys a variety of ministry settings and looks forward to annual participation
in outdoor camping ministry as well as Emmaus and Chrysalis ministries.
