9 am throughout the year
We
have a variety of opportunities for you
Sixty Plus had a double treat for their February luncheon.
Not only did Dr. Marcia give a most interesting presentation on
the history of the organ with photos of some of the famous organs around
the world and in America, but we also saw a video demonstration of an
organ being constructed. Did
you know that the Egyptians used an organ?
Its basic construction was very much like a modern organ ~ a
bellow blowing air through the pipes ~ but the pipes did not make sounds
that could in any way be recognized as musical notes.
However, it did make great loud blasts at such events as chariot
races and other arena happenings, which shows it worked for them.
The double treat was a beautiful organ mini-concert in the
sanctuary where guests were invited to gather around the organ while Dr.
Marcia played. What a
blessing she is not only to our church family but to our extended family
of Sixty Plus’ers to whom she so graciously and generously shared her
gifts of time and talents.
Our next luncheon will be
Monday, March 5th, the month of “Erin Go Bragh” and the wearing o’ the
green, so sign up and plan to put on a wee bit of the Irish and join us
for corned beef and cabbage.
Our program is yet to be determined, but faith and begorrah, sign up any
way and we’ll all be surprised.
To make your reservation you will find the sign-up sheet in the
Great Hall. Or you can call
Mary (248-374-0369) or Sandy (734-453-5471). Please notify us by the
Saturday before the luncheon if you have signed up but find you will be
unable to attend. Look
forward to seeing you (bring a friend) and may the roof above us never
fall in, and may we friends gathered under it never fall out.
