Guest Week
Begins with dinner on Saturday,
November 14, 2009
Ends after breakfast on November 21, 2009
P.F.U.M.C. is part of the “Christian Hospitality Network,” a coalition of churches
who provide food and shelter to homeless persons in Wayne County.
Annually we
host a week when we have around 50 men, women and children as guest
residents in our church.
These persons come to our facility around 5 p.m. each
evening for dinner, showers, fellowship and much needed rest.
Beginning at
about 5 a.m. they wake up have breakfast and are taken back into the city in
order to go to work, seek employment or remain at the day shelter until dinner
time when the process begins again.
It takes many hands to successfully
participate in this program.
From those willing to make and serve meals, collect
and organize items needed by our guests, to meeting and assisting full time
program staff in the supervision of the folks who stay with us through the week.
Watch the
Beacon for details about how you can participate.
