News from some of our missionaries working outside of the US

The Kapplers in Kazakhstan   November 2006

The Kappler's are Kris, who grew up in our church, Sarah, Hannah, Elizabeth and Johnny.  They spent 5 years in South Korea and have been in Almaty, Kazakhstan for 2 years.  Kris teaches in a seminary and works with young pastors in planting new churches.  They are with the OMS International, a mission organization headquartered in Greenwood, Indiana.  Kris is the son of Marjorie and Wes Kappler.

Their address is:  Kris Kappler, P.O. Box 361 Almaty, 050000 Republic of Kazakhstan

"News June 2007:

In 1907 OMS missionaries, together with two Korean ministers, founded the Korea Evangelical Holiness Church (KEHC). Sarah and I recently attended the 100Th anniversary celebration of the KEHC where 90,000 people gathered in the Olympic Stadium in Seoul.  Today the KEHC denomination has over 2700 churches in Korea.  We are praying more and more for God to bring His people into His kingdom in Kazakhstan as they did in Korea.

Extreme Walk missionary, Nicole Stiles, stayed with our children while we were in Korea.  We are so thankful that Nicole is here in Kazakhstan.  Her ten months will soon be up and she will return to the USA.  She has been focusing on language study and church planting opportunities.  She recently stayed with a family who are about 23 hours by train from Almaty.  She was assisting them in planting a church there.  Please pray for Nicole to be able to share her Christian testimony using the Kazakh language and build good relationships with the people there.

There is also a need for more teachers to teach K-12 in Kazakhstan.  Please pray for more teachers and even consider coming to Kazakhstan as a teacher of missionary children.

We also had seminary graduation and the ordination service for Light Association of churches.  This year we ordained 2 local pastors, 3 evangelists and 6 deacons.  These newly ordained ministers plan to serve either in their home churches or in church planting ministries.

Kris is responsible for overseeing Light Association of churches which includes being a pastor to the pastors and recruiter of evangelists to start new churches.  Kris has also taken on the responsibility on the board of trustees of KECS by assuming part of the responsibility of raising the seminary's annual budget.  Please pray for us that we will show humble leadership as Jesus did.  The effects of inflation require that we raise more funds for the ongoing work of the seminary.  If you would like to make a donation to this effort, you may send offerings to:  OMS International, Inc. PO Box 1648, Monument, CO 80132-1648 and note the following:  field #180, KECS Account #301800.

Please pray for us as we continue our evangelistic outreach this summer in the city of Astana.  We are praying for this outreach with the words of Jesus found in Mathew 10:11  "Whatever  town or village you enter, search for some worthy person there and stay at his house until you leave."
