Plans for a Music Academy |
|
The
Music Commission is exploring the possibility of establishing a Music
Academy here at First Church. The purpose of this survey is to
establish interest among our church members and to garner support for
the project. If there is enough interest, we will begin moving
forward to open a Music Academy in September of 2007. We will
locate instructors, establish a curriculum and begin offering lessons
for vocal, organ, piano and instrumental to students of all ages.
Enrollment in the Music Academy would be open to students from our local
community as well. The administration of tuition fees would be handled
through our church with the help of a part time Music Academy
administrator who would handle scheduling, attendance and tuition record
keeping. The administrator and the instructors
would be paid entirely from tuition fees thus making the Music Academy
completely self-supporting. |
| The Music
Commission feels that establishing a Music Academy will benefit our
church in several ways: |
- The Academy will bring people from
the community into our church on a regular basis some of who,
perhaps, have no church home or are looking for a new church home.
- Our music ensembles will grow
numerically as well as musically. The Commission is recommending a
small reduction in tuition rate to any student who participates
regularly in one of our church’s music ensembles.
- We see this as a means to increase
our worship attendance, with the potential to increase our church
membership.

Establishing a Music Academy in our church has huge
community outreach and evangelism potential.
